SCENTIFIC NAME: Hoya carnosa 'Compacta'

KNOWN AS: Hoya Compacta, Krinkle Kurl, Indian Rope, Angel Rope, Porcelain Flower, Wax Plant

CLIMATE (LOCATION): Southeast Asia | Tropical

DESCRIPTION: These plants have unique, curly leaves that look twisted. They grow in dense succession, creating a rope-like effect. A high shelf or hanging planter is perfect for displaying these plants.

Hindu Rope Plant Care

Watering
Water your soil when it is dry 50%. Do not water too much. You will need to water less in winter or in less light.
Lighting
The best light for your Hoya is medium indirect light. If it gets too much direct sunlight, the leaves might burn. If it's in a place with lower light, you will need to adjust how much you water it and expect slower growth.
Humidity
This tropical epiphyte will love an increase in humidity.
Temperature
This plant is able to live indoors, but it prefers warmer temperatures. If it feels cold or dry, it might complain.
Toxicity
Hoya leaves are poisonous to pets and humans. If someone or a pet eats the leaves, they will have a mouth and stomach irritation. Some people experience skin irritation when handling the sap.
Propagation
To propagate this Hoya, take a healthy vine and cut off a section with two leaves. Cut just below the lowest leaf. Remove the lower leaves so you have a clear stem to root in soil. Make sure the soil is moistened and suitable for cactus or succulents. Put the cut stem into the soil, and make sure only the cut stem is in contact with the soil while leaving the remaining leaves exposed to get good air circulation to avoid rotting. Once the roots are a few inches long, you can pot up the whole plant!
