These are distinct product lines with differences in components, engineering, and manufacturing. We're confident you'll find the Gen 2's differences worth the upgrade and will pair well within any new or existing set-ups.

The Aspect™ Gen 2 is a complete evolution of our best-selling pendant-style LED grow light. While the original Aspect came in two sizes (Small and Large), Gen 2 consolidates those into one smart, compact, and powerful unit. It delivers over 110% more plant-usable light than the original Small Aspect and 19% more than the Large Aspect, with improved PPF efficiency (better light for less power).

The Gen 2 is also dimmable out of the box, allowing you to adjust light intensity without external controls—a highly requested feature. It uses less energy (36W) than the previous Large model (40W), while offering a more compact and lightweight design. The fabric cord is now 18 feet long, giving you more flexibility in placement. The included installation kit has been upgraded for faster, cleaner setup.

Best of all, the Gen 2 maintains everything people loved about the original: warm-white full-spectrum light (3000K), high CRI of 98, a 60° beam angle, and our trusted 5-year warranty. It's built for plant parents who want beauty, performance, and longevity in one modern pendant light.

Hanging the Aspect™ Gen 2 is simple, stylish, and secure—everything you need is in the box. Follow these steps for proper installation:

1. Choose a spot where your plant will thrive and the light can shine unobstructed—ideally above the plant or angled toward it.
2. On average, each foot of distance between the light and your plant covers a 1:1 area. For example, 3 feet of hanging height = 3 ft x 3 ft light spread.
3. The Aspect™ Gen 2 includes 3 Fairleads for neat cord management (including 3 corner pieces so cords can run down corners), and a Swag Hook for stylish wall-to-ceiling placement.
4. Pre-drill holes if needed and install the ceiling hooks or Swag Hook. Hang the light and run the cord along your desired path using the Fairleads.
5. With the built-in dimmer, you can now fine-tune the intensity of the light to match your plant's stage and preferences.
6. Plug the light into the included outlet timer and set your desired on/off schedule. This takes the guesswork out of daily plant care.
7. Turn the light on, check beam coverage, and monitor your plant's response over time. Adjust the height or dimmer as needed.

Getting the right distance between your grow light and your plants is essential for healthy growth. The Aspect™ Gen 2 provides a focused, powerful beam, so proper hanging height ensures your plants receive the ideal intensity for their light needs.

Bright, Direct Light (12in – 24in)

Best for full sun or high-light plants like succulents, citrus trees, and aloe vera. This range delivers the strongest light intensity for growth-hungry species.

Bright, Indirect Light (24in – 36in)

Ideal for high-light indoor plants such as fiddle leaf figs, rubber plants, and crotons. Provides strong yet slightly diffused light to support structured, upright growth.

Moderate Indirect Light (36in –48in)

Perfect for mid-light plants like monsteras, peace lilies, and spider plants. Balances spread and intensity to prevent legginess and maintain vibrant foliage.

Low Light Tolerant (48in – 72in)

Designed for resilient, low-light species like snake plants, ZZ plants, and pothos. Offers soft, ambient light that mimics shaded or north-facing window conditions.

As a general rule, the higher the hanging height, the wider the light spread and the lower the intensity. With Gen 2’s built-in dimmer, you can fine-tune brightness for plant health and room ambiance—no need to constantly reposition.

Not always! While placing grow lights directly above plants gives the most even and intense light coverage, the Aspect™ Gen 2 is designed with a focused 60° beam angle, which allows for flexible placement and creative styling.

This means you can:

• Mount at an angle to spotlight a plant in a corner
• Hang off-center while still maintaining excellent light exposure
• Illuminate multiple plants in a grouped arrangement

For the most balanced growth, ensure your plant receives enough PPFD across its canopy. If you notice leaning or uneven growth, you can rotate the plant or adjust the light's angle. With its compact, directional design, the Aspect™ Gen 2 lets you highlight plants without sacrificing performance or aesthetic.

The daily runtime of your grow light depends on the type of plant and how much natural light it’s getting. As a general rule for the Aspect™ Gen 2:

• Low to Medium-Light Plants:
  
  Run the light for 10–12 hours per day. These plants don’t need intense light but still benefit from a steady, daily boost.

• Medium to High-Light Plants:
  
  Keep the Aspect™ Gen 2 on for 12–14 hours per day. This ensures they get enough energy for active growth, especially in darker rooms or during winter months.

• Flowering Plants:
  
  Follow a 12 hours on / 12 hours off cycle to mimic natural light patterns. This encourages blooming and supports photoperiod-sensitive species.
  

Use the included timer to automate your light cycle and avoid overexposure or missed days. For most homes, we recommend syncing the light to your waking hours, creating a routine that aligns with your environment and your plant’s rhythm.
