First, it is important to know what most LED lights really are. LED lights with a white color temperature are a combination of the primary colors red, green, and blue. In the LED industry, companies use two methods to produce white light. These include mixing light from red, green, and blue LEDs or using a yellow phosphorous coating over a blue LED. The latter is a more efficient and higher quality solution for home lighting and is used by nearly every LED producer. This works because a large amount of yellow light stimulates both the green and red cones in our eyes, tricking us into seeing white. This method is great for lighting but provides too much green and yellow light while not providing any of the critical red light needed for plant growth.

A plant's light contains all the light waves needed to carry out photosynthesis in a plant. Soltech lights have an LED chip (rather than a bulb) mounted directly to the aluminum housing and cannot be replaced.  If used for 12hrs/day the Aspect Gen 2 will last up to 11 years, the Vita up to 7 years, the Grove up to 11 years, and the Highland up to 11 years.

You do not have to replace bulbs or any components of Soltech lights.  If the light burns out for any reason within 3 or 5 years (depending on the light) of the purchase date, just return it to us and we will send you a new one.
