FAQs: Highland™ Track Grow Lights

The Highland™ is a full-spectrum LED track light designed for plants. Each head delivers up to 47.7 μmol/s of plant-usable light from 30 watts and aims independently, so one track can light a grow wall, a large indoor tree, or several plants with different needs. It looks like a high-end architectural track light, with warm 3000K light and a CRI of 97.

Choose the plug-in Highland™ Track Light System to install without an electrician; it includes a cord, outlet plug, and timer. Choose the Hardwired Highland™ for a clean, cord-free installation wired to a ceiling junction box and wall switch. Outside the U.S. and Canada, choose the International Series Highland™, built for 220–240V, 3-circuit track.

U.S. Highland lights fit H-type (Halo-compatible) single-circuit track rated for 120V, including Soltech's 4ft Highland Track Rails and existing H-type track in your home. They don't fit J-type or L-type track. International Series Highland lights fit 4-wire, 3-circuit track.

Choose the wide (60°) beam for plants within about 5 feet of the light, like shelves, grow walls, and plants under standard ceilings. Choose the narrow (36°) beam for plants farther away or for high-light plants, since it concentrates output into a tighter, stronger spot. You can mix beams on one track.

A 4ft track holds up to four Highland™ lights, so you can start with one or two and add more with the Highland™ Light Only. Straight and flex connectors join rails into longer runs or around corners.

Yes. U.S. Highland lights are compatible with TRIAC dimmers, the standard type of LED wall dimmer, when the track is wired to a dimmer circuit. International Series Highland lights dim from 5% to 100% with a trailing-edge dimmer.

Each Highland™ is rated for 50,000 hours, more than 11 years at 12 hours a day. It's built with a one-piece aluminum housing and silent, fanless cooling, and is backed by a 5-year warranty.

Plug-In or Hardwired: Two Ways to Install

The Highland™ Track Light System plugs into a standard outlet and includes a 4ft H-type track rail, cord, outlet timer, and one to four lights, so it installs without an electrician. For a cord-free, built-in look, the Hardwired Highland™ Track Light System connects to a ceiling junction box and runs from a wall switch, which makes it a great fit for renovations and new builds.

Wide or Narrow Beam: Light Plants Near or Far

Each Highland delivers up to 47.7 μmol/s of plant-usable light from 30 watts. The wide (60°) beam spreads light across shelves and grow walls within about 5 feet, while the narrow (36°) beam concentrates it for high ceilings and high-light plants. Mix both on one track to light a staghorn fern up close and a dwarf Japanese maple across the room.

Grow Your System Over Time
