Can any LED light be used as a grow light?

First, it is important to know what most LED lights really are. LED lights with a white color temperature are a combination of the primary colors red, green, and blue. In the LED industry, companies use two methods to produce white light. These include mixing light from red, green, and blue LEDs or using a yellow phosphorous coating over a blue LED. The latter is a more efficient and higher quality solution for home lighting and is used by nearly every LED producer. This works because a large amount of yellow light stimulates both the green and red cones in our eyes, tricking us into seeing white. This method is great for lighting but provides too much green and yellow light while not providing any of the critical red light needed for plant growth.Soltech solved this problem by first focusing on the spectrum required for photosynthesis, then adjusting that spectrum until we got a high-quality white light!

Are indoor grow lights effective?

Yes! Grow lights are designed to be a sunlight substitute that stimulates the growth of plants by providing them with the right mix of colors. Using the Vita, Aspect, or Highland, you can grow all your favorite plants, trees, and herbs year-round.

Do grow lights use a lot of electricity?

Thanks to the advancements in light technology LED plant lights, they save energy when compared to their older counterparts. This allows for much lower energy bills, depending on the cost of energy in your area it will only cost $10-$20 a year to run a 20w Aspect or Vita at 14hrs/day!

What is the difference between a grow light and a regular light?

A plant's light contains all the light waves needed to carry out photosynthesis in a plant. This process of stimulation and nurturing is typically handled by the sun, but when indoors a full-spectrum plant light can provide everything a plant needs. Contrasted with what a regular light provides, the same plant simply wouldn’t survive. A standard bulb does not produce the correct light needed to stimulate and nurture the growth of a plant.

Which grow light is best for my plants?

Below are some of the most popular plants our customers are growing. The Versa, Grove, and Vita Grow Bulb can grow the low light and medium light plants listed below and the Aspect and Highland Track System have the ability to grow all of the plants listed below.Full Sun Plants (Coverage 10″ – 18″): Beans, Corn, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Melons, Peas, Peppers, Squash, TomatoesHigh Light Plants (Coverage 20″ – 28″): Banana, Cacti, Carrots, Dwarf Citrus Trees, Ficus, Olive, Dwarf Pineapple, Pomegranate, SucculentsMedium Light Plants (Coverage 30″ – 36″): African Violet, Aluminum Plant, Bamboo, Begonias, Coffee Plant, Corn Plant, Herbs, Orchids, Peace Lily, Peperomia, Pleomele, Spider PlantLow Light Plants (Coverage 42″ – 48″): Arrowhead Vine, Asparagus, Ferns, Cast Iron Plant, Chinese Evergreen, Dieffenbachia, Snake Plant, Staghorn Fern, Ivy, Pothos, Philodendron, ZZ PlantClick here to find your plant in our extensive plant guide.

How long do the lights last and will I need a replacement?

Soltech lights have an LED chip (rather than a bulb) mounted directly to the aluminum housing and cannot be replaced. If used for 12hrs/day the Aspect Gen 2 will last up to 11 years, the Vita up to 7 years, the Grove up to 11 years, and the Highland up to 11 years. You do not have to replace bulbs or any components of Soltech lights. If the light burns out for any reason within 3 or 5 years (depending on the light) of the purchase date, just return it to us and we will send you a new one.

Are the grow lights safe for pets, humans, and furniture?

Soltech grow lights do not give off any harmful light waves, typically you would have to contend with UV light. Our light contains less than 1% of UV light and is even safe on artwork. Our lights are 100% safe for humans, pets, plants, artwork, and will not fade furniture or floors.

Do the lights come with a warranty?

At Soltech we pride ourselves on our dedication to each customer, because to us, customer satisfaction is everything.Because we stand by our quality products, Soltech offers a 5 year warranty on the Aspect, Highland, and Grove grow lights and a 3 year warranty on the Vita grow bulb.
