What’s included with the Highland™ LED Track Light System?

The Highland™ LED Track Light System includes one to four Highland lights (your choice), a 4-foot H-type track rail with mounting hardware, a 25-foot cord with end feed and outlet plug, four wall fairleads for cord routing, an outlet timer, and a quick start guide. Choose a black or white finish and a wide (60°) or narrow (36°) beam.

Do I need an electrician to install the Highland Track Light System?

No. The Highland™ Track Light System plugs into a standard wall outlet, so no hardwiring is required. Mount the track rail, click in the Highland lights, and route the 25-foot cord down to an outlet with the included fairleads. For a cord-free installation wired directly into your ceiling, choose the Hardwired Highland™ Track Light System instead.

Can I add more Highland lights later?

Yes. The 4-foot track rail holds up to four Highland™ lights, so you can start with one or two and add more with the Highland™ Light Only. To go bigger, the 8-foot Highland Track Rail holds up to eight lights, and straight and flex connectors let you join rails into longer runs or around corners.

Should I choose the wide or narrow beam Highland?

Choose the wide (60°) beam for plants 1 to 5 feet from the light, such as shelves, grow walls, and plants under standard ceilings. Choose the narrow (36°) beam for plants 5 to 10 feet away, or for high-light plants that need more intensity, since it concentrates output into a tighter, stronger spot. You can also mix beams on one track by adding a Highland Light Only in the other beam angle.

How many Highland lights do I need?

It depends on the area you’re lighting and how much light your plants need. A single wide-beam Highland lights a small group of plants, while a grow wall or a large tree usually needs two to four lights spread along the track. Because each head aims independently, you can point lights at different plants from one rail. For a recommendation for your space, email the Soltech team at hello@soltech.com.

Where should I install the Highland track for my plants?

Install the track above or in front of your plants so the lights can reach the full canopy, including the top, sides, and lower leaves. Group plants by light needs, placing high-light plants closest to the lights and low-light plants farther away. Then aim each Highland head at the plants it’s meant to cover, and adjust the angle as your plants grow.

Is track lighting strong enough to grow plants?

Yes, if it’s built for plants. Each Highland™ delivers up to 47.7 μmol/s of plant-usable light (PPF) from 30 watts, far more than a standard track bulb, with a full-spectrum output designed for photosynthesis. It’s powerful enough for living walls, staghorn ferns, dwarf Japanese maples, and large indoor trees, while looking like an ordinary architectural track light.

Is the Highland Track Light System dimmable?

Yes. Highland™ lights are compatible with TRIAC dimmers, the standard type used for LED lighting. On the hardwired system, they can connect to a wall dimmer. You can also lower intensity without a dimmer by angling heads away from plants or moving plants farther from the light.

Does the Highland look like a grow light?

No. The Highland™ gives off warm-white 3000K light with a color rendering index (CRI) of 97, the color accuracy used in galleries and museums. It looks and performs like a high-end architectural track light, showing off plants, artwork, and finishes in natural color. It’s available in black or white to match your ceiling.

How much electricity does the Highland Track Light System use?

Each Highland™ light draws 30 watts. Running 12 hours a day, a single light uses about 11 kWh per month, roughly $2 at typical U.S. electricity rates. A full four-light system uses about 43 kWh per month, roughly $7–8.

How long does the Highland last?

Each Highland™ is rated for 50,000 hours, more than 11 years at 12 hours a day. It’s built with a one-piece aluminum housing with silent, fanless cooling and is backed by a 5-year manufacturer warranty.

Highland Track System

"I love the look and style of this Highland track system. I just hadn't figured out the dimmer feature. I need the lights a bit brighter. I emailed customer service, which has been very helpful on my previous orders, just waiting for a response. I got this for my plant wall in my dining room. Definitely will be ordering more products."

So bright, my plants are so happy 😁

"They are fabulous, my plants immediately seemed so much happier. I actually love them."

— Kaitlin L. (5/5)

Great lights, have to move to customize

"These lights are great. They are high quality. My only complaint is that the lights are incredibly hard to remove once they’ve been fit into the track. You have to remove the cap on the end to remove them as they don’t come straight down out of the track, you have to slide them to the end. If you have multiple lights & you want to move them after installing it’s a real pain."

— Jennifer M. (4/5)

Just Buy It

"My God these lights are amazing! We’ve got a very dark home and we had invested in numerous cheaper lights over the years. The plants were suffering before, and now everything in our home is thriving! Things that haven’t flowered in years are blooming. We’ve added Aspect lights to other areas and we couldn’t be more happy. Literally won’t consider buying anything else in future!"

— P J. (5/5)

Best Track Lights!

"Amazing grow lights! I have been using the track lights for a couple of years now and have had zero issues. I have 4 lights with a mix of narrow and wide beam to light my moss pole wall. Plants have done amazing and I love the temperature of the lights."

— Austin W. (5/5)

The quality of the mount and light are amazing!

"I love the wide angle of the light and the sturdiness of the mount!"

— Marco S. (5/5)

Highland Track Lights

Q&A

Can this be installed on drop ceilings with tiles?: Hey there! Yes you can install our products with drop-ceiling anchors. They are provided in the box for the highland systems and for all other products they can be easily obtained at your local hardware store!
Can you use this as an up light in your pot?: Hey Cheryl, Any of our lights can be used as uplighting but the light will not be as effective at growing in this configuration. This is because plants are designed by nature to receive light from the top down.
